------end synopsis------

coyote ugly...

what is the real problem with coyote ugly?? it's that it bills itself as a "girls dancing on the bar" movie, and it ends up being a "small town girl in the big city trying to realize her dreams" flick. do you see the inherent problem here??

picture this. a packed house for a midnight showing of coyote ugly. about ten minutes into the film the whole house is yelling at the screen. people were talking to the screen!! it was incredible. a mob scene ensued--cat calls, PG-13 disclaimers, and a cacophony of unpleased patrons.

if you're going to advertise your film as soft-core porn, then it should be that! am i asking too much here? really.

the couchman cometh.

after such a strenuous week, i stayed on the couch most of the weekend. i felt disgusting by sunday evening. i can't believe i wasted my whole weekend watching TNT edited versions of ghost and pretty woman. i am a sorry lot. it's weekends like this that make me glad to be married to margaret. she tolerates a lot of my laziness.

anyway, enough of that. it's back to the gym today. head screwed on right. life back in order.

we did have dinner with dan this weekend. we made spicy crab cakes and salad. we drank two bottles of wine with dinner and got silly.

i have a new favorite wine, liberty school. (link)

chicken on the town...

chicken finally got me off the couch sunday night. first we picked up my friend, lee. then we went to spider house. along the way, chicken had many adventures.

lee, chicken, and i had coffee with dan and rami. we tried to decide what the worst movie EVER was.

  • dan ardently believes it to be the dolph lundgren classic masters of the universe. (link)

  • lee believes it to be that great art house classic about putting women int their place, boxing helena. (link)

  • i am still a firm proponent of braveheart-comes-to-america, the patriot. (link)

after this spirited debate, lee, chicken and i went over to play with roger. roger belongs to heather.

heather, lee and i have decided that this week on jimbishop.org is going to be "stunt week." i will be performing my first stunt tonight. as we speak, my stunt coordinator, lee oatis brown, is coming up with what death defying feat chicken and i will partake of tonight.

hope to be able to type tomorrow...

email me to suggest death defying stunts,
or look at what i looked like last week.
